See more View on facebook 2 months ago Photos from Bushwood Bees's post Emperor Penguins and Honey Bees Both have adapted amazing ways of keeping warm. When temperatures drop below 10c honey bees start to form a tight cluster to keep warm. The centre of the cluster is where the queen is found, and here, the temperature is maintained around the 32c-37c mark. Heat is generated by bees inside the cluster vibrating their wing muscles, a bit like shivering. This requires energy which the honey they have stored provides. Emperor penguins similarly form a huddle which keeps the huddle temperate at around 37c and also move to ensure no single member overheats or gets too cold. Amazing adaptation to the environment.
